A road trip magazine, not a booking funnel
Super Fat Hookups is an independent editorial site about driving Australia. It exists because most campervan content is written to get you to a booking form as fast as possible, which is not the part of a road trip people actually get wrong.
What this site does
We write about route decisions: how far is sensible in a day, which stops deserve two nights, where the driving is boring and where it needs your attention. We also cover the practical layer under that — camping options and their booking rules, fuel and water planning on remote stretches, and the total cost of a trip once park fees and groceries are counted.
Every article ends with the sources we used and the date the facts were last checked. Where a rule is set by a parks authority or a road authority and can change, we point at that authority instead of restating it as permanent truth.
What this site does not do
- We do not quote hire rates. Prices move with season, vehicle class and pickup city, so a published rate would be wrong most of the time.
- We do not publish reviews of campgrounds or attractions we have not verified.
- We do not claim traffic, rankings or search volumes. We have no analytics data to support claims like that.
Corrections
If something here is out of date — a closed campground, a changed booking system, a road closure that has become permanent — that is worth telling us about. Send the correction with the article URL and, where possible, the authority that sets the rule.
